
Paul Sand
Paul R. Sand, is a founder and CEO of Salare Security LLC. Salare Security markets and develops data leakage prevention solutions for VoIP.
Paul is an experienced executive in high-tech industries with over 20 years of experience. His expertise ranges from managing small start-ups to business within very large corporations. He has worked at Bell Laboratories, AT&T Network Systems, Lucent Technologies and the mVerify Corporation. He has managed organizational budgets in excess of $25M and held P&L responsibility for product lines in excess of $1B dollars. As an avid inventor, Paul is responsible for 42 inventions that have resulted in 21 US patents to date that generate $4-6M in annual licensing fees.
As a member of the Internet Security Alliance (ISA) and Paul sits on the Plenary Committee for the ISA’s VoIP Security Project sponsored by NIST and DHS and is the Industry Co-chair for the SCAP Applicability working group. He is also a senior IEEE member and a member of the Information Systems Security Association, the FBI InfraGard and the US Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force. Paul also co-developed and delivers a VoIP Security Training Course that was launched in 2008 by IP3, Inc.
In 2003, Paul joined the mVerify Corporation, a small start-up, as Vice President of Business Development. Paul successfully closed initial sales with the three of the company’s leading target market segments strongly positioning the company’s products against an vigorous, entrenched competitor.
In 2000, Lucent Technologies was preparing its messaging business for a spin-off. Paul was asked to join the team to prepare the business for sale to a third party. Paul managed the legacy messaging business and was able to double market share within 12 months and reduce operating expenses by two thirds for his products. The legacy messaging business delivered these astonishing results through successfully changing from a hardware-based to a software-based business model.
From 1999 to 2000, his product management leadership for a $1B product line produced $240M in annual cost reduction savings and expanded product reach from traditional telecom access to xDSL technology.
Previous experience from, 1985-1999 at Lucent Techologies, AT&T Network Systems, and Bell Laboratories include progressively responsible R&D, product development, systems engineering, and business management roles.
